Dr. Turner is the Co-Director of the Canadian Deprescribing Network, an assistant professor at the faculty of pharmacy, University of Montreal and a researcher at the Institut Universitaire de gériatrie de Montréal.

Dr. Turner’s research strives to optimize the safe and effective use of medications in older people, with a specific interest in deprescribing. His passion for deprescribing comes from his front-line work as a pharmacist in hospitals, community, aged care and policy sectors across Australia and the United Kingdom. Dr. Turners research poses the question, “How can we sustainably optimize the use of medications in older adults?” To answer this question,he applies mixed methods to lead and evaluate local and provincial projects across Canada. Founded in implementation science, his research assesses the impact of health policy, patient engagement and healthcare provider education on the reduction of potentially inappropriate medications in older adults at an individual and population level.
